ANNELIDA
The Annelida phylum consist of, among them: common marine worms, also generally called the segmented worms. Two of the most important families are the Sabellidae (Featherdusters or Fanworms) and the other is the Serpulidae (Christmas tree worms). This group of marine invertebrates do not behave or look anything like the normal worms for that matter. Their colorful appearance and graceful nature can almost fool some novice aquarists to think that they are actually anemones but in fact, they are not anywhere close to that! Being quite adaptive, they can be introduced to any established reef tank requiring very little care and attention, surviving under the harshest condition even with poor aquarium lighting.
These worms are generally called ‘filter feeders’ meaning that they have the ability to filter and trap tiny suspended microorganisms living in the water as foods. Thus, a reef tank with artificial wave-makers will greatly benefit these creatures, as the constant moving water will make it easier for them to extract their meal. Overall, they don’t have any specific water requirements except for the Christmas tree worms, since they have a hard calcareous shell, the water preparation should be similar like what you provide for the hard corals.
Other phylums:
The Crustacea and Cnidaria
